Why is it that they’ve moved on after a breakup whilst you’re still heartbroken? Heartbreak doesn’t discriminate, but we all cope with breakups, loss and grief in different ways as Life and Relationship Coach and Break-Up Recovery Expert Peta April Woolan and reveal in these episodes of The Love Destination Expert Series.
So why are they already over the breakup whilst you’re still grieving?
YOU SEE THEM AS YOUR SOUL MATE
“After a painful breakup you may notice that some people do move on a lot quicker than other people, and it really comes down to different types of pain that we experience after the breakup. The worst type of pain is the pain where we actually saw our ex as being our soul mate. It can be really devastating thinking “Oh no I’m never going to find anyone again, I’ve lost my soul mate. What’s going to happen to me in the future?” And that’s the worst part of pain.” Life and Relationship Coach and Break-Up Recovery Expert Peta April Woolan told The Love Destination.
“The other type of pain that we can experience after a breakup is more of a desirable pain” explains Woolan. “So that type of pain is where obviously we’re upset about losing our partner, about it not working out, about the time that we spent with them. We’re going to miss them; but we do realize that that person was not our soul mate and they were not the person that we thought they were. From that place it’s a lot easier to be more hopeful about our future.”
WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP US TO MOVE ON AFTER A BREAKUP?
If you’re struggling to move on Woolan suggests changing how you you view your ex partner’s role in your life. She said “Are you able to move to a place where you think maybe they weren’t my soul mate and hopefully there’s going to be someone better for me in the future?”
